WSOC: Two More Added to Recruiting Class

SPEARFISH, S.D. – Black Hills State University head women's soccer coach Rob Blake has announced the addition of two more signees as part of the 2017 recruiting class. Mikayla Hernandez and Morgan Wood have each recently inked their names to the Yellow Jackets with Hernandez joining the squad as a freshman in the fall and Wood transferring from the University of South Dakota.

Mikayla Hernandez | 5-7 | C | Centennial, Colo. | Smoky Hill HS

Prep: Played for Smoky Hill High School and the Colorado Storm… Three sport athlete in field hockey, basketball and soccer… Three year letter winner in field hockey and basketball… Four year letter winner in soccer… Named MVP for a game every season… Named to the All-League Honorable Mention for field hockey… Served as team captain… Participated in the 2013 US Youth Soccer President's Cup, Colo. State Champs, 2014 Region IV Semi-Finalist, 2015 Colo. State Cup, Semi-Finalist… Named All-State Honorable Mention in field hockey…

Coach Blake on Mikayla: "Mikayla is another great personality that comes to our team, someone that is has seen success and the hard work that it takes to get there. She is a very solid defender, tackles hard, reads the game well, works hard and can play out of the back."

Coach Blake on Morgan: "Morgan is pacey, creative, has an eye for goal, and will work well with our other talented recruits we have coming in and our returning athletes. This recruiting class improved another notch with Morgan signing and we are very excited to get started with the season already."

The duo joins six other signees for the 2017 squad including South Dakota natives Cait Kelly and Kayley Neville along with Colorado Products Abigail Carlson and Bella Goddard. Kiana Ayers signed from Wyoming and Jayden Judy will join the Yellow Jackets from Utah.
