Spearfish, S.D. – The Black Hills State University football team defeated Dakota State 14-9 Saturday afternoon in front of a crowd of more 3,000 people.

The Yellow Jackets took the lead on a quarterback keeper by senior Drew Hodgs with 5:13 remaining in the game.  Senior Clayton Schleusner came up with an interception to give the ball back to the Yellow Jackets late in the fourth quarter.

"I'm very proud of our guys," said head coach Jay Long.  "Once again, our defense came up big to keep us in the game and our offense came through when we most needed it."

The Yellow Jackets were led by a strong rushing attack including freshman Drew Nielson who finished the contest with 127 yards on the ground.  Freshman Bryar DeSanti also added 58 yards to the Black Hills State ground attack.

The Yellow Jackets will face Valley City State on Saturday, October 9, 2010 in Spearfish.  Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
