Mayville, N.D. – The Black Hills State University football
team defeated Mayville State 48-17 on Saturday afternoon in
Mayville, N.D.
The Yellow Jackets were led by senior quarterback Drew Hodgs who
threw for five touchdowns on the day. Sophomore wide receiver
Daniel Hancock was the recipient of three of Hodgs' touchdown
passes. The Yellow Jackets led 34-10 at halftime.
Senior backup quarterback Zac Zandstra added a touchdown pass and
sophomore defensive back Scott Boner had an interception return for
a touchdown to cement the Black Hills State victory.
“It will be good to get back home,” said head coach
Jay Long. “Our offense played really well this week and
our defense came through for us. We need to work on not
having so many penalties for next week.”
Black Hills State will return to action on Saturday, October 2
when the team will take on Dakota State. The annual
homecoming game, Swarm Day, will begin at at 1 p.m. MT with the
tailgate before the game in the Young Center parking lot at 11 a.m.
