Box Score Spearfish, S.D. – The No. 5 Black Hills State University women's basketball team defeated No. 17 Minot State 80-74 to improve to 17-3 on the season and a perfect 7-0 in Dakota Athletic Conference play.
"We made big shots in the second half," said head coach Mark Nore. "Minot State played great defensively."
The Yellow Jackets had three players score in double-digits led by juniors Kristi Ryan and Keely Krowlikowski who each netted 19 points. Senior Katelynn Lamb finished the game with 17 points.
Black Hills State trailed most of the game but was able to overcome great shooting by the Beavers who shot 54.4% from the floor. The Yellow Jackets trailed by as many as eight in the second half and outscored Minot State 38-24 to end the game. Black Hills State was sparked by a 10-0 late in the second half after Kristi Ryan drained a three-point basket with 5:22 to go.
Black Hills State will return to action Thursday, January 26 to the host S.D. School of Mines at the Donald E. Young Center in Spearfish. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. MT. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
