Point Lookout, MO. – The Black Hills State University football team defeated S.D. School of Mines and Technology 48-21 in the final game of the season, to improve to 3-7 on the season.
"When you look at our season we have struggled in the first quarter," said head coach Jay Long. "We emphasized a strong start all week long and our guys responded. I'm proud of our seniors and our whole team. It means a lot to Black Hills State to have to Homestake Trophy back in our possession. I want to congratulate our seniors on a successful career, and wish them the best of luck."
The Yellow Jacket offense utilized two quarterbacks, freshman Ward Anderson finished the game 5-11 for 103 yards and a touchdown and sophomore quarterback Wes Kragt went 6-12 for 90 yards and two touchdowns. The Black Hills State ground game was led by sophomore Bryar DeSanti who finished the game with 77 yards. Sophomore running back Drew Neilsen hauled in three passes for 84 yards and a touchdown, Neilsen finished the game with three touchdowns and 124 all-purpose yards.
Leading the charge for the Black Hills State defense was junior Ryan Lee who finished the contest with 8 tackles, three of them for a loss of yards. Junior Sterling Boylan tallied two tackles and had an interception.
