Menomonie, Wisc. – The Black Hills State University football team was defeated 19-7 on Saturday by Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie, Wisc.

Wisconsin-Stout struck first late in the first quarter on a 5-yard run by Eric Brown making the score 7-0.  The Blue Devil touchdown was the only scoring in the first quarter.

Black Hills State would respond on the following possession when Wes Kragt completed a 2-yard touchdown pass to Dustin Worthington.  The big play of the drive came on a 48-yard pass from Kragt to Daniel Hancock that took the Yellow Jackets down to the 7-yard line.  The score capped an eight-play, 68-yard drive with 11:16 remaining in the second quarter.  Wisconsin-Stout would add a 19-yard field goal to make the score 10-7 at the half.

In the third quarter, Wisconsin-Stout would capitalize on excellent field position and convert a 48-yard field goal to extend the lead to 13-7.  Later in the quarter, Black Hills State would drive the ball to the Wisconsin-Stout 28-yard line.  The Yellow Jackets would be unable to capitalize and would turn the ball over on downs.  On the following possession, the Blue Devils would drive 72 yards and score on a 9-yard touchdown pass from Ross Carey to Josh Peterson.  Wisconsin-Stout would fail on the two-point conversion attempt making the score 19-7.

The Yellow Jackets held Wisconsin-Stout scoreless in the fourth quarter.  Black Hills State would get four more possessions in the final period, but would be unable to move the ball past the Blue Devil 36-yard line.

Kragt finished the game 19-of-41 for 214 yards and one touchdown.  Kragt was also the leading rusher for the Yellow Jackets gaining 37 yards on nine carries.  Ryan Fagerstrom was the top receiver grabbing six balls for 81 yards.

Black Hills State will return home on September 10 to take on Adams State.  The game will be the Yellow Jackets' homecoming game, Swarm Day, and will kick-off at 1 p.m. MT.
