The Black Hills State University Women's Basketball Five Game Win Streak Snapped by Sioux Falls

Spearfish, S.D. – The Black Hills State University women's basketball team's five game win streak was snapped by the University of Sioux Falls Saturday evening  at the Donald E. Young Center in Spearfish by a score of 49-56, leaving the Yellow Jackets 10-12 on the season.

The game was tied at 28 going into halftime before the Cougars outscored the Yellow Jackets 28-21 in the second half. Black Hills State struggled shooting the ball in the second half making only 25% of their shots from the floor, the Yellow Jackets finished the game shooting 31% from the floor, 33% from behind the arc and 80% from the free throw line.

"We had our chances.  I was proud of the effort and I thought we did a great job of putting ourselves in a position to win.  We are making strides in the right direction," stated Head Coach Mark Nore.

Black Hills State was led by the freshman tandem of Chelsey Biegler and Cassidy Kotelman who finished the game with 12 point and 11 points respectively. Senior Kristi Ryan added six points and led the Yellow Jackets in rebounds, hauling down six boards. Freshman Dakota Barrie also netted six points for Black Hills State.

The Yellow Jackets will return to action Wednesday, February 15 as they host rival S.D. Mines at 5:30 p.m. MT.
