Black Hills State University Football Announces Shad Schneider as Defensive Coordinator

Spearfish, S.D. – Black Hills State University head football coach John Reiners announced Shad Schneider as the defensive coordinator of the Yellow Jacket football team. Schneider has been on the Black Hills State University coaching staff for the past five years as the special teams' coordinator and linebackers' coach.

"I am very excited to retain Coach Schneider and promote him to Defensive Coordinator," said head coach John Reiners. "I have watched him the past three years as the Specials Teams Coordinator/LB Coach and believe he is ready to take the next step. Coach Schneider brings nine years' worth of experience with our defense both as a player and a coach and will continue the tradition of our strong Yellow Jacket defense."

Schneider is another coach that found his way to the Yellow Jacket coaching staff after an outstanding career at Black Hills State. Prior to his coaching tenure, Schneider played outside linebacker for the Yellow Jackets from 2003-2006. During time on the field at Black Hills State, Schneider was a four-year starter for the Yellow Jackets. Schneider earned 1st Team All-DAC and Victory Sports Network All-American honors for his efforts on the gridiron.

Schneider, a native of Gillette, Wyoming, played high school football for Campbell County under the direction of John Scott and John Cundall. During his four years of competing at the high school level, the Campbell County High School football team made it to four straight Wyoming State Championship title games.

Schneider currently resides in Spearfish, South Dakota.
