Spearfish, S.D. – Yellow Jacket head volleyball coach Sally Nichols announced on Wednesday the addition of Lacy Stevens to the fall roster. Stevens is one of six new faces that will be joining the Black Hills State volleyball program from the 2012 recruiting class.

Stevens is a 5-foot-4 defensive specialist/utility hitter from Edgemont High School in Edgemont, S.D. and is the lone recruit from South Dakota in this year's recruiting class. Stevens, a native of Edgemont, S.D., will join the Yellow Jacket volleyball roster this fall as she adds to the team's depth at the defensive specialist position as a redshirt and shows promise for the front row boasting a vertical over 25 inches.

"The ultimate competitor, this girl refuses to lose," said Nichols. "She is full of fire and passion. She is a small town ranch girl that will instill a work ethic in our program for the next five years that will bring our training to a peak. A BHSU camp regular for the past eight years… Lacy bleeds green and gold."

Stevens is a four sport standout for the Moguls, competing in basketball, rodeo and track, as well as volleyball. Stevens earned varsity letters in every sport and also earned numerous individual honors including: All-State Academic Athlete (2011), two-time All-State Volleyball selection, and four-time Volleyball Team MVP. Stevens helped lead her team to an eighth place finish in 2010 and a fourth place finish in the South Dakota State Tournament in 2011 to wrap up her high school career.

 
Aside from her accomplishments on the volleyball court, Stevens has also built a name for herself on the track. Stevens holds school records in the 100 meter dash, triple jump (State B Champion '09), long jump, and the 4x100 meter relay. Stevens also excels in the classroom as she has earned the honor of Valedictorian for the Edgemont High School Class of 2012. Stevens plans to pursue a degree in Biology while studying at Black Hills State before going on graduate school for veterinary science.
