Spearfish, S.D. - The 12th Annual Black Hills Distance Running Camp, hosted by Black Hills State University, will be held July 25-28. The camp is for middle and high school students who desire to learn more about competitive running. The goal of the camp is to educate campers about the developmental process of running and racing at a high level. The camp will also help prepare the athlete for cross country and/or track.

Jim Spivey
Jim Spivey competed in the 1984, 1992 and 1996 Olympics representing the United States. Jim has a personal best of 3:49.80 in the mile and is the 2000 meter American Record holder: 4:52.44. His personal best in the 1500 meters is 3:31.01. Jim was the bronze medalist in the 1500 meters at the 1987 World Championships. Scott Underwood
Arguably the most successful coach in the history of South Dakota cross country and distance running, Underwood coached at SDSU from 1977-95. He coached four NCAA Division II National Championship Teams. He was selected South Dakota College Coach of the Year three times and NCAA National Coach of the Year three times.
Greg Schabron
Coach Schabron is in his fifth season as the head cross country coach of Laramie High School. He has been selected for Conference and State Coach of the Year honors. Schabron earned All Mountain West Conference while competing at the University of Wyoming. His training philosophies include high altitude, mountain and snowshoe training.
