LOGAN, Utah – The Black Hills State University women's basketball team lost their third exhibition game of the season at the hands of Division I opponent Utah State on Saturday night, 103-46.
USU wasted no time early on as they pushed their first half point total to 50 points, which they sustained through the second half after adding another 53 points thanks to shooters Makenlee Williams and Jennifer Schlott.
Williams turned in an impressive 35 points on 13-of-19 from the field and was a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line to go with her six rebounds and four steals on the night. Schlott meanwhile finished with 24 points with eight made field goals including two three-point shots as she added six assists and three steals.
USU guard Ingrida Strikas was big factor in the game after she added 10 rebounds to lead the game in that category.
The Yellow Jackets were held to no more than 24 points in a half thanks to 25 forced turnovers by the Aggies and the lead point getter on the night was veteran forward, Calli Bechtel, who finished with nine points. Redshirt freshman, Brittney Curl provided a balanced attack for the Jackets after her nine points and six rebounds.
Junior Cassidy Kotelman was close to a double-double as she added eight more points and six rebounds and one steal. In 27 minutes of play, junior guard Chelsey Biegler had a tough go from the field after just four points after going 1-of-11 on field goals, including 0-for-8 from three-point range.
Junior guard, Dakota Barrie, continues to be one of the most valuable players for the Jackets early on in 2013 as she dropped six points but added four rebounds, four assists, and three steals to provide production on both ends of the court.
As a team, the Jackets shot 25-percent from the field and went 0-for-15 from three-point range but did grab 39 total rebounds on the evening.
The next game for the Yellow Jackets will be their first regular season game of the year at home versus Northern State University on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013 at 5:30 p.m MT from the Young Center.
