ABERDEEN, S.D. – After falling into a big hole early, the Black Hills State women's basketball team fell 68-45 to No. 25 Northern State University Friday night on Don Meyer Court in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
With the win, Northern State improves to 4-0 while the Yellow Jackets fall to 0-2.
After winning the opening tip, Chelsey Biegler hit a 3-point basket and from there for the next nine minutes, the Yellow Jackets couldn't do anything right. The Wolves opened a 16-3 lead before the Yellow Jackets could find the bottom of the net again.
Cassidy Kotelman hit a jumper to stop the run with 9:31 remaining in the half. Northern State would enter halftime with a 36-16 lead.
The Yellow Jackets were unable to make the comeback in the second half as the Northern kept the pressure on strong en route to the 68-45 victory.
Bailey Kusser led the way for the Yellow Jackets with 10 points while Rachel Erickson scored eight.
The Wolves owned the boards with a 56-22 rebound margin led by Rachel Krogman's double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds. Sadie Stotesbery and Lauren Deadrick also scored in double-figures for the Wolves with 12 points apiece.
The Yellow Jackets make their 2014-15 home debut Tuesday hosting Montana Tech. Tipoff is slated for 5:30 p.m.
