Box Score SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University soccer team fell 1-0 to the Presentation College Saints on Sunday afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets were keeping it close before the Saints scored in the 20th minute of the game to take the lead 1-0. Brittany Cusick snuck a pass through to Emily Brennan to get a leg on it and sneak past Therese Wilhelmi in the middle of the net. BHSU was unable to respond to that goal but held the Saints from scoring the rest of the game.
Black Hills State registered five shots with two of them landing on frame. Jessica Ryan had two shots on the goal with one landing on frame while Tori Dungey, Rose Miller and Emma Jurewicz recorded one shot on goal. Jurewicz had one land on frame.
Therese Wilhelmi split the time in net with Raven Johnson. Wilhelmi grabbed saves while Johnson snagged one.
"This is our first year with a new program and we are a young team and still focusing on our goals," said head coach Rob Blake.
The Yellow Jackets fall to 1-8-0 on the season and 0-4-0 in the RMAC while the Saints improve to 5-3-1 on the season.
Black Hills State will be back in action on the road at Fort Lewis and Adams State on October 7 and 9. First kickoff Friday is at 12:30 and Sunday at noon.
