GENERAL NOTEBOOK

Looking for a Seventh Win: The last time BHSU won seven games in a season was 2007 when going 7-4 overall and made the NAIA Playoffs. The Yellow Jackets won the Dakota Athletic Conference and fell to Carroll College in the playoffs.

Facing the Former: Black Hills State head coach John Reiners spent his college career and started his coaching career for the Eagles. Reiners was on staff at CSC for 15 years where he coached NFL standout and Harlon Hill winner Danny Woodhead.

Familiar Face: Chadron State head coach Jay Long was Black Hills State's football head coach from 2009-11. Long accumulated a 15-15 record and was an assistant coach from 2003-09 for the Green and Gold.

Career Rushing Record: Phydell Paris 78 yards shy of the Black Hills State career-rushing record, entering Saturday's contest with 2,757 yards over his nearly three seasons. The current record is held by Jeff Englund with 2,835 yards from 1988-91.

Interceptions by the Bundle: The Yellow Jackets rank second in all of NCAA Division II with its 20 interceptions, just one behind the nation's leader, Azusa Pacific. The Yellow Jackets had just four interceptions in all of 2015, and now have five times that many with two games to go.

Turnovers Gained: Coach Reiners has stated that one of the goals each game is to win the turnover battle and the Yellow Jackets have done just that and rank fifth in the nation with 26 gained turnovers. The turnover margin ranks the Green and Gold 10th and 1.22 gained for every one lost.

Football and Smarts: Three members of the Yellow Jacket football team were named RMAC First Team All-Academic this past week.
