COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Black Hills State University had two runners named First Team All-Academic by the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tuesday by the league. Shelby Stoltz makes her second-straight appearance on the team while Jonah Theisen earned the honor for the first time.
Stoltz, hailing from Dickinson, North Dakota, owns a 3.99 GPA in exercise science. She competed in seven meets in 2016, placing a season-best fourth at the Gage McSpadden Invitational. The senior earned a 48th place finish at the RMAC Championships in October.
Theisen, a national qualifier, owns a 3.9 GPA in physical science. The Kenai, Alaska, native ran to a 64th place finish at the NCAA Division II National Championship after earning USTFCCCA All-Region honors with a 13th place finish at the South Central Region Championship. The sophomore placed a season-best second at the MSU Billings Open.
Five women were named to the Academic Honor Roll with Savannah Huntley holding a 4.0 GPA in history education. The others are Kately Woten with a 3.9 in accounting, Cailey Roth with a 3.68 in biology, Nicole Davis with a 3.66 in biology and Victoria Moore with a 3.33 in biology.
Eight members of the men's team earned the Academic Honor Roll accolade including Josh Davis with his 3.81 GPA in exercise science. The others are Donnie Decker with a 3.68 in science education, Keegan Her Many Horses with a 3.67 GPA in exercise science, Jacob Iverson with a 3.63 GPA in exercise science, Levi Fried with a 3.5 GPA in exercise science, Aaron Schone with a 3.45 GPA in biology, Joe Rath with a 3.31 GPA in biology and Bobby Russell with a 3.3 GPA in english education.
In all, the six women and nine men honored for the academics by the RMAC is a new record for the squads in the award that was first handed out in 2013.
