SPEARFISH, S.D.—Two huge road victories were in the Black Hills State University women's basketball team's rear view mirror entering their matchup with Adams State University on Friday evening. Those victories over Colorado Christian and Colorado Mines helped BHSU stay tied for second with CSU-Pueblo in the RMAC standings.
Adams State entered Friday evening looking to snap an 11-game losing streak. The Grizzlies' last victory came in a 71-65 decision against Western State on December 18. That streak continued as BHSU took care of Adams State 70-35.
The Yellow Jackets improve to 16-4, 13-3 RMAC while the Grizzlies fall to 2-17, 1-15 RMAC.

Keely Bertram's six points paced BHSU's 12-0 run to begin the contest. Cydney McHenry helped the Grizzlies find the scoreboard for the first time when she nailed a three-pointer at the 4:39 mark of the opening quarter to make the score 12-3.
Adams State never dug themselves out of their deep hole. The Yellow Jackets capitalized on Adams State's 21 first-quarter turnovers en route to a 21-3 lead after the frame.
The Grizzlies minimized their turnovers in the second frame, but it wasn't enough to hold off the Yellow Jackets. Bailey Kusser was the first Yellow Jacket to reach double-figures when she nailed a three-pointer to widen the BHSU lead to 26-3 with 5:44 left in the second quarter.
The Yellow Jackets prevented Adams State from reaching double-figure points when they took a 40-9 lead at halftime.
Adams State reach double-figure points when Nicole Broyles notched a free throw to narrow the margin to 44-10 at the 8:14 mark of the third quarter. McHenry's second three of the game with 3:45 left in the third helped the Grizzlies reach 20 points to close the frame, making the score 55-22.
BHSU's 33-point cushion helped them secure a 70-35 victory. Kusser led the Yellow Jackets with 15 points and five assists. Keely Bertram registered 12 points and Kassidy Scott added 11.
Regis's 65-61 victory over Colorado Mines this evening helped BHSU climb to first place on the RMAC standings.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Saturday, February 6 against Fort Lewis College. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
