Game Two: Colorado Mesa 6 Black Hills State 3
The Mavericks, who fell 2-1 to MSUD in the middle game, came out swinging in the first two innings, opening a 6-0 lead. However all the offense from there forward came from the Green and Gold.
That started in the third inning when Pamela Sakuma hit her first career homerun for the Yellow Jackets. Sakuma took Rochelle Talamantes deep down the left field line.
Black Hills State then tacked on two more runs with Erica Everson leading off the sixth inning with her second home run on the day, going straight-away center field.
The other run was manufactured over four batters. Lauren Lesniak singled down the left field line, knocking Talamante out of the game after giving up five hits. Alex Menke pinch-ran for Lesniak and advanced to second on an Odle single. Menke then moved to third base on a Jo-Jo Curry single up the middle and scored on a Sakuma sacrifice fly.
The Yellow Jackets tallied seven hits, with two coming from Curry while Sakuma tallied two RBI.
Carlee Beck was the pitcher of record for BHSU, while Talamnte improved to 11-2.
