COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Black Hills State women's basketball team fell to the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, 65-54, on Saturday evening.
Lyndzi Rich had 11 points to lead the Yellow Jackets (17-6, 11-6 RMAC), while 
Remi Wientjes and 
Alyssia Martinez each chipped in nine points.
The first half was a back-and-forth affair, with the two teams tied after one quarter, 17-17, and UCCS (8-14, 8-9 RMAC) holding a two point lead, 36-34, at the break. The Yellow Jackets led by as many as four in the first period, while the Mountain Lions led by as many as five in the second.
With two minutes left in the third quarter, the score was tied, 45-45. After Mia Carter hit a free throw for UCCS, the Green and Gold scored the next five points.

Katie Messler in the lane, who hit a layup to give the Yellow Jackets a 50-46 lead heading into the final quarter.
BHSU went cold in the fourth quarter, getting outscored, 19-4. All four of the Yellow Jackets points in the period came from the charity stripe. Unable to get anything going from the floor, the visitors fell, 65-54, on the road.
BHSU shot 31.5 percent from the field (17-for-54), while UCCS was 41.8 percent from the floor (23-for-55). The Yellow Jackets were 4-for-18 (22.2 percent) from beyond the arc, while the Mountain Lions were 7-for-17 (41.2 percent) on three-pointers. The Green and Gold were outrebounded by UCCS, 36-25.
Three players scored in double figures for the Mountain Lions, led by Abby Feickert with 13.
The Green and Gold will wrap up a five-game road stretch on Tuesday, February 6. The Yellow Jackets travel to Rapid City to take on South Dakota School of Mines, with tipoff scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
