DENVER, Colo. – The Black Hills State University softball team fell in a doubleheader to Regis University on Sunday afternoon. The Rangers (29-17, 24-10 RMAC) took the first game, 9-0 in five innings, before taking down the Yellow Jackets (9-25, 9-17 RMAC) 8-0, in five innings.
RU 9, BHSU 0 (5 innings)
The Rangers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, adding two runs in the second, and six in the third, to lead 9-0. The Yellow Jackets got a runner on in each the fourth and fifth innings on walks, but were unable to get their bats going.
Ranger pitcher Logan Losh allowed no hits to BHSU, but did give up three walks in the game.
Melissa Gellerman (5-13) took the loss for the Yellow Jackets. She allowed nine runs (six earned) in 2.0 innings, striking out three.
Paige McGuire threw 2.0 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit.
RU 8, BHSU 0 (5 innings)
Kindall Bethke started the second game with a hit, and moved over to second on a sacrifice fly, putting a runner in scoring position early. However, the Yellow Jackets were unable to capitalize. Regis responded in the bottom of the first with a run, and added three in the second.
In BHSU's third, the visitors loaded the bases, but could not pick up the timely hit, stranding all three runners. The Rangers put one run on the board in the fourth, leading 5-0. In the bottom of the fifth, RU scored three runs to take the game, 8-0.

Claire Fergusson recorded hits for the Yellow Jackets.
Alex Wiley (4-9) took the loss for the Green and Gold. She allowed eight runs (five earned) in 4.1 innings of work.
Breanne Henricksen threw the final 0.1 innings, giving up one hit.
The Green and Gold will play another doubleheader with the Rangers on Monday, April 23. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.
