SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State football team has added four student-athlete transfers beginning in the 2019 spring semester, head coach John Reiners announced recently.
Dakota Bill
Dakota Bill is a 6-3, 270 pound offensive lineman, from McKinleyville, California. He comes to BHSU from Humboldt State University, where he played in three games as a redshirt freshman in 2018. He was a three-year starter at McKinleyville High School, acting as team captain, and earning All-Conference honors his junior and senior seasons. He also earned two varsity letters in basketball, and played four years on the golf team.
"Dakota joins us as a transfer from Humboldt State University where the football program was eliminated," said coach Schnabel. "Dakota will add physicality and toughness to our offensive line!"
Dakota is the son of Mary ad Bob Bill.
Kyle Kettlehut
Kyle Kettlehut, a 6-0, 225 pound linebacker, is from Sacramento, California. He played at Sierra College for three years before coming to BHSU, recording over 70 tackles and 8.5 tackles for loss. At Lincoln High School, Kettlehut tallied 180 tackles over three years.
"Kyle is a physical linebacker that excels at playing downhill and will bring a great presence to the box," said coach Kerr. "We are excited to add him to our defense!"
Kyle is the son of Kathleen and Jason Kettlehut. He plans to major in business administration entrepreneurship.
Kadim Phillip
Kadim Phillip is a 6-4, 245 pound defensive end, hailing from Chicago, Illinois. He attended the University of Northern Colorado for three years. His freshman year, he played in four games before missing the remainder of the season with an injury. During his redshirt sophomore season, Phillip tallied 29 tackles, three tackles for loss, and a sack. He had a career-high 15 tackles against Montana State.
"Kadim's length and athleticism off the edge will be a great addition to our pass rush," said coach Kerr.
Kadim is the son of Heidi Phillip and Keith Myles. He plans to earn his masters in strategic leadership.
Leon Van Dyke
Leon Van Dyke is a 6-0, 300 pound nose guard, from Reno, Nevada. He comes to BHSU from Sierra College, where he tallied 32 tackles and two sacks his sophomore season.
"Leon possesses the size and skill set to control the A gaps for our defense," said coach Kerr. "We look forward to him joining our defense!"
Leon is the son of Leon Van Dyke, and plans to major in education.
