SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University indoor track and field teams are set for a busy weekend as they welcome back alumni for the Dave Little Alumni Mile. Collegiate action begins Friday night with two events: the weight throw at 5:30 p.m., and the distance medley relay at 6 p.m. The DMR is shaping up to be a fast one, as a veteran squad of All-Americans will take to the track for the Green and Gold. Three time All-Americans (one first team, two second teams)
Jonah Theisen and
Levi Fried are joined by 2018 second team All-Americans
Jordan Theisen and
Taylor Hepp.
After the Friday night events, there will be a social for all alumni, as well as family and friends at the Stadium Sports Grill.
"This meet always has a great atmosphere as current athletes get to connect with athletes from the past," said head track and field coach
Seth Mischke. "I'm looking forward to seeing the team capitalize on this energy. "
Action at Donald E. Young Center resumes Saturday morning with field events at 10:30 a.m., and running events at 11:15 a.m. The meet will follow a rolling schedule, so the competition will be nonstop.
The Alumni Mile is scheduled between the collegiate 5k and 4x400m relay. Following the Alumni Mile and the collegiate 4x400m relay races, there will be 'finish line' activities with complimentary hors d'oeuvres and beverages in the Joy (Proctor) Krautschun Alumni/Foundation Welcome Center sponsored by the Stadium Sports Grill. For more information about the Alumni Mile race and gathering, contact Tom Wheaton at Tom.Wheaton@BHSU.edu or 642-6385.
