Wildcats to much for the Yellow Jackets

Spearfish, SD - The Wayne State Wildcats handed  the Yellow Jackets their first home loss of the season with an 84-74 victory tonight in the Donald E. Young Center. Coming off a win against SDSMT, the wildcats had strong momentum and capitalized. They had four different players with double figures.

Erin Norling proved to be as tough as she has been all season and put up a double-double with 28 points and 12 rebounds. She also went 6-6 from the charity stripe. The Wildcats also got a big contribution from Kylie Hammer who had 20 points from off the bench.

Down by 11 at halftime, the Jackets regrouped and came out fighting. In the third quarter, the Yellow Jackets put up 23 points, shooting 45% from the field. Offensively, BH was lead by Racquel Wienjtes, who went 4-4 from behind the arc and ended the night with 21 points. She also hit 100 percent of her free throws

Abby Switzer and Morgan Ham each had solid nights, putting up 14 and 13 points respectively. Switzer was hitting 50 percent from the three point line and was good for six of ten from the field. Ham hit two three pointers on six attempts.

On the defensive side of things, Katie Messler pulled down 10 rebounds during the contest, 7 of them defensive boards.

The Yellow Jackets only have a few days to regroup until their next game which marks the beginning of RMAC play. On Tuesday night, November 26, at 5:30 p.m. in the Donald E. Young Center, the Yellow Jackets will clash with the Hardrockers of SDSMT.
