Box Score Spearfish, SD – In their first game of the season, the Black Hills State University women's basketball team downed the TAMU-Kingsville Javelinas 65-34.
Alyssia Martinez and
Morgan Ham lead the scoring each putting up double digit points with 12 and 10 respectively.
Martinez was 5-9 from inside the line and 2-4 from the three point line. Ham was 4-7 and 2 for 3 from the three point line.

The Javelina's took an early lead in the first quarter and lead through the first five minutes of play.
Summer Fox would drain a three pointer kicking off a 9-0 run by the Yellow Jackets to finish the first quarter 17-11.

The second quarter was a defensive back and forth game, with the Yellow Jackets outscoring the Javelinas 14-13 making it 31-24 at half.

The second half was all Yellow Jackets, they absolutely dominated the court. A strong offensive assault, coupled with great defense, allowed the Yellow Jackets to hold the Javelinas to three points in the third and seven points in the fourth while putting up 34 total points in the second half.

This defensive effort was led by
Abby Switzer who recorded three offensive rebounds. She also had a steal on the night. The Green and Gold recorded eight total steals and scored 16 points of Javelina turnovers.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action tonight against the Texas A&M International University Dustdevils in the Donald Young Center at 4:00pm.
