SPEARFISH, S.D. – Black Hills State University track and field has only been eligible for the NCAA DII National Championships the last six seasons, but in that time, the Men's Distance Medley Relay has now qualified for the National Championships five times. They enter the 2019 meet ranked ninth. Making her second national appearance, sophomore
Jordyn Huneke enters the meet ranked sixth. Huneke placed 14
th at the 2018 Outdoor National Championships.
Being no stranger to the National Meet, the DMR is chockful of experience. This is will be senior
Jonah Theisen's fourth appearance on the DMR. He and senior
Levi Fried, who is making this third appearance, were members of the 2016 DMR that placed third at the National Meet, earning All-American Status. That finish is still the current school record of 9:46.97. In 2017, Fried and Theisen were on the team that took ninth. Returning from last year, junior
Jordan Theisen makes his second DMR national appearance. He and his brother took ninth in 2018. Making his first DMR is junior
Tristan Hepp.
Jordan Theisen will lead off in the 1200m leg, handing off to Hepp in the 400, to Fried in the 800m, and
Jonah Theisen will anchor in the mile.
The race will be held at 7:00 p.m. central time on Friday, March 8, at Pittsburgh State University in Pittsburg, Kansas. Pole vault is scheduled for Saturday, March 9 at 4:00 p.m.
