WBB: BHSU battles Hardrockers in 100th matchup

SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University women's basketball team prepares for their 100th matchup with South Dakota Mines, on March 1.  Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m. on Friday.  The Yellow Jackets trail by one, as the Hardrockers lead the All-Time series, 50-49.  
 
THE GAME – South Dakota School of Mines Hardrockers
» The Yellow Jackets and Hardrockers meet on the court for the second time this season and for the 100th time in program history, when they play on Friday.  In the last matchup, the Green and Gold defeated South Dakota Mines, 70-43, to tip off conference play. 
 
» The Hardrockers moved to a 11-14 overall record (8-13 RMAC), after defeating UCCS (66-59) and Colorado School of Mines (56-54) for a weekend sweep. 
 
» South Dakota Mines is led by Taylor Molstad, who averages 12.7 points per game, to rank 12th in the conference. On defense for the Hardrockers, Anna Haugen averages 8.9 rebounds per game, which in second in the RMAC.  Haugen was named the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week on February 25, after recording back-to-back double-doubles in the Hardrockers wins over UCCS and Colorado School of Mines.  As a team, South Dakota Mines has a 34.0 three-point field goal percentage, which is fifth in the conference.

» Black Hills State University head coach Mark Nore enters his 17th season with the Yellow Jackets and owns a 302-192 record. He is the all-time wins leader for the Yellow Jacket basketball team.
 
» Ryan Larsen is in his sixth season at the helm of the Hardrockers. Prior to coming to Rapid City, he was the assistant coach at
the University of South Dakota.

Last Time Out
Black Hills State has a 12-9 RMAC record (16-9 overall), after defeating Colorado School of Mines, 64-51, and UCCS, 72-57, to complete the weekend sweep. 
 
Four Yellow Jackets had double-figure scoring in the Yellow Jackets' victory over the Orediggers. Racquel Wientjes led with 17 points, followed by Morgan Koepsell (14), Morgan Ham (13), and Julia Seamans (12).
 
Racquel Wientjes led with 19 points in the Green and Gold's victory over UCCS.

Mr. 300
On Feb. 16, head coach Mark Nore recorded his 300th victory as the Black Hills State women's basketball head coach in the Yellow Jackets 85-57 victory over Chadron State.  Nore is the winningest coach in the program's history.
 
RMAC ALL-Academic
Twelve Black Hills State University women's basketball team members were named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll. To qualify for the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically, using a year of eligibility, and hold a 3.3 cumulative grade point average.
 
Share the Rock
Julia Seamans has averaged 3.0 assists per game this season.  That ties for 10th in the conference. The senior's assist to turnover ratio of 1.4 is fifth in the RMAC, and 115th in the nation.
 
Knock It Down
Seamans is making 2.5 three-pointers a game to lead the Yellow Jackets, which is ties for fourth in the conference, and tied for 48th nationally.
 
Pull It Down
Katie Messler leads the Yellow Jackets, averaging 6.2 rebounds per game, which is 14th in the RMAC.
 
Texas Hold 'Em
The Yellow Jackets are allowing just 61.2 points per game this year. That ranks eighth in the RMAC, and 65th nationally.
 
Accuracy Wins
BHSU is ninth in the conference and 143rd nationally in field goal percentage, making 40.7 percent of its shots from the field.
 
Shooters Gunna Shoot
The Green and Gold add a new season high with 35 field goals, in the game against New Mexico Highlands on Feb. 9.
 
Now Boarding
BHSU totaled a season high 21 offensive and 31 defensive rebounds against New Mexico Highlands, on Jan. 25, for a new season-high of 52 total boards.
 
Not Today
The Yellow Jackets tallied a season high seven blocks against Regis, on Jan. 12.  The Green and Gold now stand in eighth in the conference with 2.8 blocks per game.
