SPEARFISH, S.D. – Despite being only two weeks out from the RMAC Outdoor Championships, the weather is stilling wreaking havoc on the Black Hills State University track and field teams' schedule. SD School of Mines, who will be hosting the RMAC meet, cancelled the Bauer Invitational due to the recent snow storm. Instead, the Yellow Jackets will be traveling to the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colo., to compete at the Kit Mayer Invite this weekend.
Originally slated for Friday and Saturday, the Kit Mayer has been pushed back to Saturday and Sunday in the search for better weather. The schedule is tentative with the Javelin and 5k/10k races being held Saturday starting at 4 p.m. Action on Sunday will begin in the field at 10 a.m. with the pole vault and hammer throw. Running events will begin at 11 a.m. with the steeplechase. The schedule will NOT be rolling.
"Spring in the Black Hills forces you to become flexible," said head coach
Seth Mischke. "This will be a great opportunity to compete against some RMAC competition as we start our final gear up for championship season."
As the Championships approach, the Yellow Jackets are looking good on the National Rankings. The men's distance squad, led by senior
Jonah Theisen's provisional mark, have three in the top 25 in the steeplechase. Theisen is currently 15
