BOULDER, Colo. – The Black Hills University track and field teams traveled to Colorado for the second weekend in a row and competed at the Colorado Invitational on Friday and Saturday. In a crowded field, three Yellow Jackets hit provisional qualifying marks, including
Allan McDonnell in the high jump,
Hannah Hendrick in the pole vault, and
Kyla Sawvell in the discus.
McDonnell placed fifth in the high jump, and his mark of 6'9.00" (2.06m) improved on the provisional mark he already set this season. Meanwhile, Hendrick was fourth in the pole vault, and was the top Division II finisher. She cleared 12'0.00" (3.66m) to provisionally qualify for nationals. Sawvell was fifth in the discus, with a provisional mark of 149'.80" (45.61m). The freshman also took sixth in the shot put, and fifth in the hammer.
"We had another great weekend with the weather, and the kids took advantage with some very solid efforts," said head coach
Seth Mischke.
In the 400 meters,
Taylor Hepp was 10th, while
Keegan Her Many Horses was 13th in the 800. Jake Iverson placed in the 3000m, taking third in 8:59.87, which was the top DII time of the day. In hurdles,
Seth Kovar was 12th and
Seth Hills was 18th in the 110m, while
Tristan Hepp took second in the 400.
In the field for the men,
Drazen Moratzka joined McDonnell in the high jump. The sophomore was 15th. McDonnell was also 11th in the triple jump, while
Jacob Esposito was 13th.
On the women's side,
Shayna Soderstrom was 10th in the 200 meters, while
Cailey Roth was 12th in the 800. Brittany Marosok was 14th in the 100 meter hurdles and the 400 hurdles, and Katherine Campbell was 16th in the 100 hurdles.
Tori Moore was second in the 3000m steeplechase in 11:25.51.
In field,
Alexandra Richards was fourth in the javelin and was 15th in the high jump

The team is back in action next weekend in Rapid City at the Bauer Invite.
