NEW ORLEANS, La. – Seven members of the Black Hills State University track and field teams earned USTFCCCA All-Region accolades, the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced on Tuesday.

To earn All-Region honors, a student-athlete must finish in the top-five of an event in the region.

On the men's side, Tristan Hepp, Allan McDonnell, Makaleb McInnis, and Jonah Theisen were named All-Region. Hepp, a junior from Buffalo, Wyo., earned the accolade for the 400m hurdles, while sophomore Allan McDonnell, a native of Wall, S.D., is All-Region for the high jump. Senior Makaleb McInnis, who was competing in collegiate track and field for the first time, was named All-Region for javelin. A senior from Kenai, Alaska, Theisen earned All-Region in the steeplechase. Theisen will be competing at the National Championships in both the steeplechase and 5k.

For the women, Jordyn Huneke and Whitney Scott were both named All-Region for pole vault. Both sophomores will be competing at the national championship. Joining the vaulters is Kyla Sawvell. The Wall, S.D. native was named the RMAC Freshman of the Year following a conference championship in which she placed second in three events. Sawvell was named All-Region in the shot put.

Theisen, Huneke, and Scott will be competing in the NCAA DII Outdoor Track and Field Championships May 23-25 in Kingsville, Texas.
