WBB: Yellow Jackets to Host the Mountain Lions and Orediggers

Spearfish, SD – The Black Hills State University women's basketball team returns home this weekend for a pair of RMAC games. On Friday they face University of Colorado - Colorado Springs at 5:30pm. Then, on Saturday, they take on Colorado School of Mines at 4:00pm.

The Yellow Jackets are 9-5 on the season and 6-3 in conference play. They enter this weekend hot off two big wins and currently sit sixth in the RMAC. The team is benefiting from its balanced handling of the ball as the Yellow Jackets are fourth in the RMAC in both points per game (65.4) and points allowed (58.1).The team is second in the league with 9.07 steals per game.

The Green and Gold are led by two shooters, Racquel Wientjes and Morgan Ham. Wientjes, this past weeks RMAC defensive player of the week, is fifth in the RMAC averaging 16.5 points per game. She does that by having the fifth best shooting percentage from the field (45%) and fourth best free throw percentage (86%). Ham is the ninth highest scorer in the RMAC so far with her 14.7 points per game.

Scouting the Mountain Lions (4-11, 3-6 RMAC)
The UCCS Mountain Lions have turned things around in 2020 having picked up three of their four wins since the new year. They are fresh off a weekend sweep over Fort Lewis College and Adams State. Abby Feickert will be the player to watch. She is averaging 11 points a game, shooting 41.5 percent from the field, 35.1 percent behind the three-point line, and 81.8 percent from the free throw line. UCCS leads the series over the Yellow Jackets 10-4. In their last match up, the Yellow Jackets won 72-57 in Spearfish.

Scouting the Orediggers (8-6, 5-4 RMAC)
Colorado School of Mines is coming off a split weekend of RMAC play having defeated Adams State but dropping to Fort Lewis. Denali Pinto will be the player to watch as she is averaging 18.9 points a game and is almost perfect from the free throw line. The Yellow Jackets have a slight advantage in the series, leading the Orediggers 6-5. In their last match up, the Green and Gold were victorious at home 64-51.
