Black Hills State women's basketball is set to tip off its season on the road with a Friday night meeting against Western Colorado at 5:30, before taking on Fort Lewis Saturday at 4 p.m.

The Yellow Jackets finished last season at 17-11 overall, and 14-8 in conference, earning a spot in the RMAC Championships.

Long-time head coach Mark Nore enters his 19th season heading the BHSU women's basketball program. In that time, Nore has coached over 500 games, amassing a career record of 318-203 including 248 games coached at the DII level and 273 in the NAIA.

Western Colorado (0-0)
The Yellow Jackets are 9-2 all-time against the Mountaineers dating back to a 64-50 win on Nov. 30, 2012. BHSU has won the last three matchups between the two teams, their latest being a 49-47 victory Jan. 3, 2020 in Spearfish.

Western Colorado finished the 2019-20 season with an overall record of 20-7, and 18-4 in the RMAC. The Mountaineers solidified a postseason berth in the 2020 NCAA DII National Tournament in March before it was canceled due to the pandemic.

Fort Lewis (0-0)
BHSU has had success against the Skyhawks in the past, boasting an 8-1 record between the two programs since 2013. The Yellow Jackets lost their first ever meeting, 80-71, but has since last their last eight matchups, the last coming by a score of 74-66 on Dec. 14, 2019.

Last season, Fort Lewis finished 15-12 overall and 11-11 in RMAC play. The Skyhawks started out strong in 2019-20 with a 15-5 overall record, and 11-4 in conference, through their first 20 games before dropping their final seven to finish the campaign.
