Spearfish, SD – The Black Hills State University men's and women's track teams each picked up eight event wins for a total of 16 at day two of the Stinger Open. They were led by a NCAA Provo Mark by
Abbie Fredrick and a new school record by
Breanne Fuller.
Abbie Fredrick ran 5:00.22, just shy of her personal best, to win the mile. That time converts down to a NCAA Provo Mark of 4:53.25 and is currently the 14
th fastest time in Division II. Elsewhere in the distance events,
Taylor Lundquist was second in the 800m while
Mayson Hudyma was third.
Xiomara Robinson picked up the win the 3000m in 10:25.89. That time is 9
th fastest in school history.
In the sprints,
Breanne Fuller set a new school record in the 60m dash, winning in a time of 7.79. She came back to take second in the 200m dash in 25.42.
Mikayla Tracy was close behind in third with a time of 26.75. In the 400m,
Zoe Langseth won with a time of 58.65. That time ties for third fastest in school history.
Mikayla Tracy was close behind in second in 58.67 which is now fifth fastest in school history.
Brittney Marosok was second in the 60m hurdles in 9.31 while Katie Campbell was third in 9.43 tying her personal best.
In the field,
Whitney Scott won the pole vault.
Hannah Hendrick was second, improving her NCAA Provo Mark to 11 – 11.75. She remains fifth all time.
Samantha Bates was second in the long jump in 17 – 01.50 while
Emily Keller was close behind in third with a jump of 17 – 01.25. Bates came back to win the triple jump in 35 – 5.75. Katie Campbell was second in 35 – 00.25. In the throws,
Kyla Sawvell won the shot put and took second in the weight throw.
The men's squad fared well on the track.
Tucker Bopp won the 400m dash in 50.40, which is sixth fastest in school history.
Jordan Theisen won the mile in 4:18.21, which converted was just shy of an NCAA Provo Mark. He was also second in the 3000m while
Matthew Parker took third in that event.
Seth Kovar ran the seventh fastest 60m dash in school history to take third in 7.15.
Tristan Hepp was second in the 200m dash in 22.76 while
Larenzo Ebell was third in 22.88
The Yellow Jackets went 1-2-3 in the 60 hurdles with
Seth Kovar taking the win,
Tristan Hepp taking second, and Jacob Eposito taking third.
In the field events,
Drazen Moratzka won the high jump clearing 6 -3.25. Ryan Fox won the men's vault while
Tristan Hepp was third. Dontae Garze won both the long jump and triple jump. His Triple mark of 45 – 3.00 is sixth best in school history.
Reece Ullery was second in the triple. In the throws,
Hoyt Nicholas was second in the shot put and third in the weight throw.
The Green and Gold now turn their sights to the RMAC Championships hosted by UCCS next weekend.
