Colorado Springs, CO – The Black Hills State University women's basketball teams late rally wasn't enough to overcome the UCCS Mountain Lions as the Yellow Jackets lost 56-57. They fall to 13-8 in the RMAC and 16-10 overall.
The Yellow Jackets got a tough start in the first quarter managing only four points on 14 attempts. They rallied back in the next three quarters shooting a consistent point total, but it was ultimately not enough to overcome the 21 – 33 deficit they had built in the first half.
On the night, the team shot just 29 percent (20 for 67) including 30 percent from downtown (6 for 20). They were also cold at the free throw line, connecting just 52 percent of the time (10 for 19).
Morgan Ham led the team with 27 points shooting 10 for 26 from the field. She also recorded four rebounds.
Racquel Wientjes was also in double digits with 13 points and pulled down four boards.
Katie Messler lead the team with rebounds, pulling down eight.
The Green and Gold will wrap up their regular season next weekend against interstate rival SDSMT. Tip off is scheduled for 5:30 in Rapid City.
