SB: Yellow Jackets Drop Series 1-3 in RMAC Opener

Belle Fourche, SD — In a three game marathon, the Black Hills State University softball team went 1-2 against Fort Lewis College to open RMAC play. The Skyhawks took the series 1-3 having previously beat the Yellow Jackets on Saturday. The Green and Gold are now 2-9 overall and 1-3 in RMAC play.

Fort Lewis took the series open 5-4 on Saturday after the game was called in five innings due to visibility concerns.

In the brisk air of Sunday morning, the Skyhawks came out swinging winning the second game of the series 11-3 in six innings.

The Yellow Jackets responded in game three winning 6-1. However, they couldn't hold that momentum and lost in a 2-3 heartbreaker in six innings in game four. Ump's again called that game early due to visibility concerns.

In the Yellow Jackets lone win of the weekend, Crystal Amaral got the win pitching all 7 seven innings allowing only seven hits and one run. Kindal Bethke and Amaral were the big sluggers with two hits a piece. Taryn Moan recorded two runs and an RBI while Bethke, Mikayla Johnson, and Ginna Haley all recorded runs.

The Green and Gold take to the road this weekend to play Dixie State and MSU Denver in Denver. Game times are noon and 2pm on Saturday and 11am and 1pm on Sunday
