Spearfish, SD – The Black Hills State University men's and women's track and field teams are heading to face some of the best competition in the country. They will be competing at the RMAC Indoor track and field Championships this Friday and Saturday hosted by UCCS. The RMAC is notoriously one of the stoutest conferences in country, especially in the distance events. The Yellow Jackets were unphased by this as they qualified 21 women and 12 men into the championships.

Friday's action begins at 10:00am with the heptathlon and the weight throw. Running events begin at 1:00pm with the 60m hurdle prelims. Saturday, the Heptathlon wraps up at ten, the men's shot put gets the field events underway at 11:00am, and running events begin at noon with the 60m hurdles.

"This is the weekend our training culminates for," said head coach
Seth Mischke. "We have tapered and prepared, and now it is time to let the dogs off the porch and fight for every single point available. It will be a great test in a great environment, and there will be no room to be flat, as conference meets bring another level of adrenaline to the team. It's going to be a fun one for sure."

Tristan Hepp will kick things off for the Yellow Jackets in the Heptathlon. He is the school record holder in this event, second in the conference, and 13
th in the nation.
Seth Hills will also be competing in the heptathlon, he is ranked 16
th going in.

The Yellow Jackets women's squad enters the meet with some serious credentials in the field events.
Whitney Scott leads the pole vault squad ranked third in the conference and 17
th in the nation. She will be up against the top two division II vaulters this weekend.
Hannah Hendrick is close behind ranked fourth in the conference and 50
th in the nation. Also looking to podium will be
JoJo Sherman who is ranked 11
th, and
Chandi Jackson who is ranked 13
th.

Kyla Sawvell will be looking to keep up her dominating presence in the throws. She enters the Championship ranked first in the both the shot put and the weight throw. Her WT toss is currently 13
th in the country while her shot put is 28
th. Maddi Fiddler will also be throwing the weight and shot and is ranked third and 11
th respectively in those events.
Riley Langston will be looking to prove herself in the weight coming in ranked 20
th while
Danielle Noble is looking for a big push in the shot put entering ranked 17
th.

Katie Campbell and
Samantha Bates will represent the jumpers in the triple jump. They enter the meet 14
th and 15
th. Â Campbell will also race in the 60m hurdles were she is ranked 16
th.

On the track,
Abbie Fredrick continues to lead the way. She enters the mile ranked fourth overall and 14
th in the country. Teammate
Ruby Lindquist will be hot on her tails as she is 13
th in the conference. In other distance events,
Taylor Lundquist and Mason Hudyma will be competing in the 800m run and are ranked 13
th and 18
th.
Xiomara Robinson will take another crack at the 3000m run; she is ranked 15
th. In the grueling 5k,
Kelsey Van Den Hemel will line up against some fierce racers in the 5000m.

Breanne Fuller will represent the Green and gold in the 60m and 200m. She is currently fifth in the 200m and just outside the podium at ninth in the 60m. In the 400m,
Zoe Langseth is ranked fifth while
Mikayla Tracy is right behind in sixth. Also competing in the 60m hurdles is
Brittney Marosok who enters 15
th while
Julette Goehring will get a chance to better her time as she enters 26
th.

Tristan Hepp will follow up the heptathlon with a 60m hurdles where is his school record time sits him second in the conference.
Seth Kovar will be looking to reclaim his school record in the 60m hurdles and is right behind Hepp in third.
Jacob Esposito will also race in this event; he is ranked 21
st.
Taylor Hepp and
Tucker Bopp will battle is out in the 400m dash, Hepp is ranked 6
th while Bopp is 10
th.

Jordan Theisen will represent the distance squad in the mile and 800m. He is currently 16
th in the mile and 19
th in the 800m.

Dontae Garza will have a busy weekend in the field events. He will be competing in the high jump (13
th), long jump (17
th), and in his best event, the triple jump were he is ranked 11
th.
Reece Ullery will also compete in the triple jump; he is ranked 14
th.
Drazen Moratzka will compete in the high jump where he is ranked 13
th.

In the throws,
Hoyt Nicholas enters the weight throw ranked third and the shot put ranked eighth. He is looking for another upset this year.
Sully Mack will also throw in the weight and shot where he is ranked 13
th and 12
th respectively.
