Women's Basketball Morgan Ham

WBB: Yellow Jackets Start Final Homestand

Spearfish, SD - The Black Hills State University women's basketball team are coming off another 'split' weekend. They were able to take home the win versus Chadron State but came up short to MSU Denver. Morgan Ham led the Jackets, averaging 19 points per game on the weekend. Racquel Wientjes averaged seven rebounds per game and Katie Messler added six per game. The next two weekends, the Yellow Jackets will be at home. This Friday, they will take on Colorado State University Pueblo at 5:30 p.m. at the Donald E. Young Center. Saturday, they will face New Mexico Highlands University at 4 p.m.
 
Head Coach Mark Nore is excited for his team to be back playing in the Donald E. Young Center. He said, "Our team is ready to compete and play well."
 
The Yellow Jackets currently sit seventh in the conference standings, with a 9-6 conference record. Racquel Wientjes leads the team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 17.1 points per conference game and 6.1 rebounds. Wientjes also sits third in the conference with her solid 86% from the charity stripe. Morgan Ham is averaging 15.2 PPG and is shooting 43% from the field, which is fifth in the conference. Ashlee Beacom and Abby Switzer also average two assists per game.
 
 CSU Pueblo
CSU Pueblo is coming off two losses to Colorado School of Mines and University of Colorado- Colorado Springs. They are led by JaNaiya Davis who averages 16.5 PPG and is shooting 47% from the field, which sits third in the conference. Sydni Williams also averages double-digits, with 10.9 PPG as well as 8.5 rebounds per game. The Green and Gold are looking for a rematch versus the Thunderwolves this weekend as they lost earlier this season 63-69. CSUP leads the series 14-4.
 
NM Highlands
The Cowgirls struggling this season and are 0-15 in conference play. They are led by Jordyn Lewis, averaging 14.6 PPG and Ashley Antone with 12.4 PPG. Maiah Rivas and Brianna Stewart lead the team in assists, averaging three per game. Earlier this season, the Green and Gold came away with a big 73-47 victory. They lead the series 9-0 over the Cowgirls.

  • Fans are encouraged to wear pink to "Pink out" Saturday's Games against New Mexico Highlands in honor of Kenadi Weis and the Kenadi Jean Weis Foundation.
 
  • Due to increased activity in the fieldhouse this weekend, including a youth soccer tournament, parking will be limited. BHSU Athletics will be running a shuttle free of charge from the dirt parking lot to the front doors Friday from 4:30pm to 10:00pm and Saturday from 3:00pm until 9:00pm.
