Golden, CO – The Black Hills State University women's basketball team was eliminated from the RMAC tournament after falling to Colorado School of Mines 44-66 in the first round of play. The Yellow Jackets finished the regular season as the fifth place team and end the season 17-11 overall and 14-8 in the RMAC.
The Yellow Jackets could not get any momentum going and were plagued by poor shooting on the night. The first quarter opened slow and saw the Orediggers pull to just a 12-8 lead in the first ten minutes of play. BHSU would try to remain in even dropping 17 points in the second quarter but unfortunately, CSM was hot and scored 24 points to lead 36-25 at half. The Yellow Jackets were shut down in the third managing only seven points. The team went point for point with the Orediggers in the final quarter, but ultimately, it was not enough.
On the night, the team was just 16 of 59 ( 27 percent) from the field including only 9 of 31 from downtown (29 percent). The team didn't have much chances at the charity stripe shooting fifty percent (3 of 6).
Raquel Wientjes lead the team with 11 points and four rebounds. She shot four of nine on the night.
Abby Switzer was the second highest scorer with nine points.
Ashlee Beacom lead the team with rebounds pulling down six boards.
The Yellow Jackets will now enter the off season.
