The lady Yellow Jackets are coming off a two game sweep earlier this week after facing the Regis University Rangers and the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers as they gear up to face another tough opponent in the  Colorado Mesa Mavericks.

Earlier this season the Yellow Jackets were able to secure a win over the Mavericks at home in a close low scoring game (50-60). Since then, both the Yellow Jackets and Mavericks have been hot with neither team being handed a loss since. This puts the Yellow Jackets and Mesa both sitting at impressive overall 6-1 records in the RMAC. The Yellow Jackets lone loss came in their season opener to Western Colorado on December 4th.

Sunday night the Yellow Jackets squared off against Regis in a game that saw both teams go on scoring runs of 10 or more points and both teams hold 7 point or higher leads in which BHSU came out on top 70-61. Racquel Wientjes was the teams leading scorer on the night scoring 32 points with Megan Engesser backing her up with 10 points of her own. Defensively Engesser lead the team in steals and rebounds with 4 and 8 respectively.

In a complete team victory on Monday night the Yellow Jackets were able to secure their first OT victory of the season over the Orediggers 73-71. During this game senior forward Morgan Ham scored her career 1,000th point in the fourth quarter. The Yellow Jackets had 3 double digit scorers on the night with Morgan Ham (20), Megan Engesser (15), and Racquel Wientjes (13) leading the team in points. Defensively Wientjes and Ashlee Beacom were the team leaders in steals with Wientjes securing 4 steals and Beacom recording 3. Engesser led the team with 5 rebounds on the night.

The Yellow Jackets head into the game looking to secure another victory over the Mavericks and extend their winning streak to 7.
