Yellow Jackets Jet Set to Hawaii for Malika Sports Oahu Thanksgiving Classic

Black Hills State women's basketball will be competing in the Malika Sports Oahu Thanksgiving Classic in Kanehoe, Hawaii this week as they take on Hawaii Pacific University and Walsh University.
 
The Yellow Jackets will take on the Sharks Wednesday, Nov. 24 at 8 p.m. and then will play the Cavaliers Friday, Nov. 26 at 5:00 p.m.

BLACK HILLS STATE (2-2, 0-0 RMAC) vs. HAWAII PACIFIC UNIVERSITY (2-1, 0-0 PACWEST)

The Sharks have won two of three games to open the season. HPU defeated Western Oregon to open the season Friday, Nov. 12 winning 85-61 before falling to Saint Martin's Saturday, Nov. 13, 62-53. The Sharks bounced back following that loss with a 69-60 victory over Seattle Pacific.
 
HPU is averaging 69 points per game while the Yellow Jackets are currently averaging 57.5 points per game. In shooting percentage BHSU has HPU beat in both field goal percentage and three-point percentage while the Sharks are outshooting the Yellow Jackets from the charity stripe.
 
This will be the first time the Yellow Jackets and Sharks have faced off in program history.

BLACK HILLS STATE (2-2, 0-0 RMAC) vs. WALSH UNIVERSITY (2-1, 0-0 GMAC)

Walsh University is 2-1 to start the season. Walsh opened their season with an 80-64 decision over Ferris State before falling to Wayne State (Mich.) 82-64. Most recently, the Cavaliers won in decisive fashion over Edinboro with a 90-32 victory Saturday, Nov. 20.
 
Currently the Cavaliers as boasting 78 points per game but only outshoot the Yellow Jackets in shooting percentage from the field. The Yellow Jackets are currently shooting better than the Cavaliers from beyond the arc and from the charity stripe.
 
The Yellow Jackets and Cavaliers have faced off once before on March 13, 2011. In that contest the Yellow Jackets fell to the Cavaliers 83-73 after the Cavaliers got hot in the second half of play. That contest ended the Yellow Jackets 2010-11 campaign as BHSU finished the season with a 24-8 overall record.
