Black Hills State track and field is set to open the indoor season at home in the Yellow Jacket Holiday Open Friday, Dec 3, and Saturday, Dec 4.

Teams competing at the Yellow Jacket Holiday Open include Black Hills State, South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, and Chadron State. Other student-athletes will be competing as individuals from multiple institutions. 
 
Competition begins at 3:30 on Friday with Pentathlon and Heptathlon events. Saturday field events begin at 9:00 a.m. with events beginning on the track at 2:00 p.m. on a rolling schedule. The men will compete first on the track with women to follow.
 
Last season the Yellow Jackets had four indoor events qualify for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Birmingham, Alabama. Ruby Lindquist, Mikayla Tracy, Taylor Lundquist, and Xiomara Robinson qualified in the women's distance medley relay. Robinson also qualified in the women's mile while Kyla Sawvell earned a bid in both the women's weight throw and women's shot put.
 
At nationals the distance medley relay earned a seventh-place finish earning All-American status and Kyla Sawvell earned third in the shot put also earning All-American status.
