Black Hills State women's basketball is headed to Colorado to take on the Regis University Rangers and the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers to ring in the new year.

The Yellow Jackets (6-6, 4-2 RMAC) are coming off a sweep on their home court before holiday break as they defeated New Mexico Highlands and University of Colorado – Colorado Springs.

BHSU took on the Cowgirls first, coming away with a 74-46 victory Saturday, Dec. 18 before taking on the Mountain Lions and winning a close contest 65-61 Sunday, Dec. 19 in the Donald E. Young Center.

BHSU (6-6, 4-2 RMAC) at Regis University (7-4, 3-2 RMAC)
The Rangers are coming off a weekend split which saw them taking on familiar faces. Regis opened up the weekend of play facing Fort Lewis College in a contest that saw the Rangers come out of top winning 68-58 on the road in Durango before taking on Western Colorado and losing 77-70.

The Yellow Jackets and Rangers have faced off 15 times in program history with the Yellow Jackets winning nine of those match ups. Most recently the two teams faced off last season in a contest that saw BHSU come out on top winning 70-61 at the Donald E. Young Center.

This season the Rangers are outshooting the Yellow Jackets in the paint with a 41.3 shooting percentage compared to BHSU's 35.4; however, the Yellow Jackets are outshooting the Rangers from beyond the arc, 34.4% compared to 33.9%, and from the free throw line, 69.9% compared to 67.5%.

The Orediggers are on a seven-game winning streak and are undefeated in RMAC play so far this season. CSM is currently ranked 16th in the nation after a solid start to the season. Most recently the Orediggers took down Western Colorado (74-64) and Fort Lewis College (87-53) on the road.

The Yellow Jackets and Orediggers have faced off 15 times in program history with BHSU holding 8 of 15 wins. Last season the Yellow Jackets faced the Orediggers once during the regular season. In that contest the Yellow Jackets were victorious defeated Colorado Mines 73-71 at the Donald E. Young Center in overtime.

This season the Orediggers are averaging 72.9 points per game while averaging a 39.5 shooting percentage from the paint, 27.1 3-point percentage, and a 70.5 free throw percentage. Currently the Yellow Jackets are shooting better from beyond the arc and will look to keep that up against a top ranked team.
