Yellow Jackets Gear Up for Weekday Matchups

The Black Hills State University women's basketball team is set to take on Chadron and South Dakota Mines this week at 5:30 P.M. on Tuesday and Thursday, respectively.
 
The Yellow Jackets are coming off a win, 68-63, in their last home contest against the UCCS Mountain Lions. The Yellow Jackets were led by three double digit scorers, Racquel Wientjes, Megan Engesser, and Cody Robinson. As a team the Jackets forced 17 turnovers and tallied 12 steals.
 
BHSU (11-5) vs CSC (0-9)
The last time the Yellow Jackets faced off against the Eagles was January 26th in Chadron, Neb. in a game that saw the Yellow Jackets snap their three-game losing streak. The contest started out slow with both defenses playing stout games giving up less than 25 total points in the first quarter. In the third quarter the jackets would take a twelve-point lead which would prove to be too much for the Eagles to overcome. The Jackets would win 65-52. The last time the Eagles played they took on the UCCS Mountain Lions and fell 65-41 moving to 0-9 on the season. Historically the Eagles hold a slight edge over the Yellow Jackets with 38 wins over the Jackets compared to 26 losses. The Jackets will look to perform the season sweep over the Eagles Tuesday night in Spearfish.
 
BHSU (11-5) vs SDM (9-6)
The last time the Jackets and Hardrockers faced off the Hardrockers were able to walk away with the 50-66 victory in Rapid City after jumping out to an early lead that proved to be too much for the Jackets to overcome. Wientjes led the Yellow Jackets offensively with 22 points in the contest. The last time the Hardrockers competed was a contest in which the Hardrockers defeated the CCU Cougars 71-41 in Rapid City. The win against the Cougars improved the Hardrockers to 9-6. Historically the Hardrockers hold a slight edge over the Yellow Jackets holding 53 wins compared to the Jackets 50. The Jackets will look to split the season with the Hardrockers Thursday night in Spearfish.
