Women’s Basketball Closes Regular Season in Colorado

After splitting their last two home matches against Chadron and South Dakota Mines, the Black Hills State women's basketball team is set to take on Colorado Christian and Metro State on the road Friday, Feb. 26th and Saturday, Feb. 27th in their final games leading up to RMAC tournament play.
 
The Yellow Jackets claimed the 59-39 victory over Chadron on Tuesday, Feb. 16th on senior night led in scoring by seniors Racquel Wientjes (11), Morgan Ham (8), Kassie Hoyer (6) and Sophomore Niki Van Wyk (11) while recording ten steals throughout the night.
 
Against South Dakota Mines the Yellow Jackets came out strong leading for most of the night. Back and forth scoring in the fourth quarter would ultimately lead to a Yellow Jacket loss 60-61 in the final seconds of game play. BHSU was led in scoring by Wientjes and Ham with 20 and 11 points apiece.

BHSU (12-6, 12-6 RMAC) @ CCU (3-12, 3-12 RMAC)

The last time the Yellow Jackets faced off against Colorado Christian on Jan. 30th BHSU was able to secure a victory defeating the Cougars 74-46 at the Donald E. Young Center. That night BHSU had three double digit scorers in the contest and led by 33 points in the fourth quarter. The Cougars are coming off a 54-47 victory over the UCCS Mountain Lions winning their third game of the season with a strong fourth quarter performance. Historically the Yellow Jackets hold the edge in wins over the Cougars with a 9-7 advantage.

BHSU @ MSU Denver (9-6, 8-4 RMAC)

The last time BHSU faced off against Metro State was on Jan. 23rd in a contest that saw the Yellow Jackets secure a victory over the Roadrunners behind three double digit scorers. The game was close throughout the duration of the contest however BHSU held the lead 36 of 40 regulation minutes and won the game 69-61. The Roadrunners are coming off a win against UCCS during which the team had four double digit scorers and won 67-58. The Roadrunners have won 9 of their last 11 games. Metro State holds an edge historically over the Yellow Jackets with BHSU hold 6 wins to the Roadrunners 13.
