Black Hills State women's basketball is set to take on Westminster for the second time in ten days Friday, March 12 at 7:45 P.M.

The Yellow Jackets earned their ticket to the NCAA DII women's basketball tournament after taking down both Westminster and Western Colorado in the RMAC Tournament to make it to the Championship game versus Colorado Mines. After a positive COVID test in the Colorado Mines program the championship game was deemed a no contest and BHSU was awarded the victory and a bid to the NCAA Tournament.

During the selection show Sunday, March 7 the Yellow Jackets were awarded the six seed and found out they would again match up against Westminster who was awarded the three seed in the West Region.

The Yellow Jackets and the Griffins have faced off twice this season including their RMAC Tournament face off. Both contests have gone in favor of the Yellow Jackets with the first match-up final sitting at 71-68 after BHSU sunk 17 three pointers in the contest on December 12, 2020. The last match-up between the Griffins and Yellow Jackets was on March 2nd in the first round of the RMAC Tournament. BHSU was again able to put up 71 points compared to the Griffins 66. The Yellow Jackets sunk 13 three pointers and shot a season best 45.8% from the field in that contest. Throughout the game the Griffins were unable to take the lead at any point in the night but were able to tie the game twice.

BHSU will look to continue their success against the Griffins and advance to round two of the NCAA DII Tournament where they would face off against Western Colorado should they win. If the Yellow Jackets would lose to the Griffins Friday night, the team would head into the offseason and begin prepping for the 2021-22 season.

Historically the Yellow Jackets and Griffins have faced off seven times with BHSU having five wins and two losses.
