Black Hills State women's basketball is set to take on the Westminster College Griffins Tuesday, March 2nd in Salt Lake City, Utah at 5:30 p.m.
After losing their last two road games against Colorado Christian and Metro State BHSU's women's basketball team looks to snap a three-game losing streak in the first round of the RMAC Championships.
This season the Yellow Jackets have been led by senior forward
Racquel Wientjes who is averaging 19.4 points per game, 6.2 rebounds per game, and 28.5 minutes played per game. She is backed up by sophomore guard
Megan Engesser who is averaging 11.4 points per game and currently leads the RMAC in 3-point field goal percentage.
The Griffins are currently on a one game winning streak and hold the #2 seed for the RMAC Championship bracket. The Yellow Jackets come into the contest holding the #7 seed looking for an upset in Salt Lake City.
The last time the Griffins and Yellow Jackets faced off it was the Yellow Jackets who walked away with the early season victory. The Yellow Jackets were hot from the arc that night sinking 17 shots from beyond the arc and scoring 71 points on the night. The contest was close despite the Yellow Jackets' hot shooting from beyond the arc coming down to the final 10 seconds of regulation where BHSU would defend against two three-point shots in the final seconds to earn the victory.
Historically BHSU holds a slight edge over the Griffins having won four of the teams six matchups.
A win would advance the Yellow Jackets to the RMAC Semifinals to be played Friday where as a loss would end the Yellow Jackets season and the team would begin the transition to post-season work.
