Track and Field Have Four National Qualifiers

The Black Hill State track and field teams have had four events selected to compete at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field National Championships in Birmingham, Alabama.
 
Indoor Nationals will take place March 12 and 13 all day. The Black Hills State track and field teams have four events that are national qualifiers which include the women's distance medley relay comprised of Ruby Lindquist, Mikayla Tracy, Taylor Lundquist, and Xiomara Robinson, Kyla Sawvell who will be competing in both the women's weight throw and women's shot put, and Xiomara Robinson who will be running the women's mile.
 
Throughout the 2020-21 indoor season the Black Hills State track and field teams obtained the most individual Provisional marks of any team, men and women combined, in school history. The track and field teams also had the most total Provisional marks obtained, men and women combined, in school history.
 
Those who obtained Provisional marks include, the women's distance medley relay run by Ruby Lindquist, Mikayla Tracy, Taylor Lundquist, and Xiomara Robinson, Xiomara Robinson in the 5k, 3k, and mile, Breanne Fuller in the 200m dash, Ruby Lindquist in the mile, Hannah Hendrick and JoJo Sherman in the pole vault, Kayla Sawvell in the weight throw and shot put, and Matthew Parker in the 5k.
 
This indoor season also saw three school records broken in three separate events. Breanne Fuller broke the school record in the 60m dash at the RMAC Championships completing her race in 7.75 seconds. The previous record was 7.76 seconds which Breanne Fuller set herself in 2020. Xiomara Robinson broke the school record in the 3k completing the race with a time of 9:53.01. The previous record of 9:53.79 had been set by Erin Curran in 2012. The women's distance medley relay run by Ruby Lindquist, Mikayla Tracy, Taylor Lundquist, and Xiomara Robinson broke the school record running their race in 11:54.43. The previous school record was 11:57.99 set by Bever, Perrett, Yanchek, and Curran in 2011.
 
The women's track and field team had 17 top ten moves on the leader board while the men had ten.
