Black Hills State track and field competed at the Bauer Open in Rapid City Friday and Saturday April 9 and 10.

The Yellow Jackets' weekend was highlighted by BHSU adding four provisional qualifiers with
Kyla Sawvell earning a provisional mark in the hammer throw,
Whitney Scott earning a provisional mark in the pole vault, and both
Xiomara Robinson and
Ruby Lindquist earning provisional marks in the 1500m run.
Along with their provisional marks Robinson and Lindquist each broke the school record in the 1500m run currently sitting one and two, respectively, on the all time leader board for BHSU.

Sprints
The Yellow Jackets had success on the track with
Breanne Fuller tallying two more first place finishes in the 100m dash (12.16) and the 200m dash (25.20).
Mikayla Tracy also earned a first-place finish in the 400m dash with a time of 59.82. For the men,
Mason Sartain earned a fourth-place finish in the 100m dash with a time of 11.14 and was followed closely by
Nana Kwame Dwamena who came in fifth with a time of 11.26.
Shane McGraw earned a fifth-place finish in the 400m dash with a time of 51.53.

Hurdles
For the women
Vanessa Clark and
Sophie Curtis had successful outings on the track with Clark coming in second in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.15 and fifth in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:12.79. Curtis earned a third-place finish in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.41 and fourth in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:10.52. Meanwhile for the men,
Seth Hills took third place in the 110 hurdles and the 400 hurdles with a time of 15.71 in the 110 hurdles and 56.80 in the 400 hurdles.

Relays
BHSU's mens 4x100m relay was successful on the track taking first place with a time of 43.06 which was run byÂ
Nana Kwame Dwamena,
Conor McGraw,
Seth Hills, and
Mason Sartain While the women's 4x400m relay also took first with a time of 4:02.61. The 4x400 was run by
Erica Dykstra,
Mikayla Tracy,
Taylor Lundquist, and
Samantha Bates.

Distance
Xiomara Robinson kept up the success on the track racking up two more first place finishes this weekend. Robinson earned one first place finish in the 1500m run finishing the race in 4:34.66 and earned her second first place finish in the 5000m run crossing the finish line with a time of 17:51.51. Close behind Robinson in the 1500m run was
Ruby Lindquist who crossed the finish line with a time of 4:35.76 and earned second.
Sylvia Brown was also successful in the 1500m run finishing in 5:02.03 and earning fourth. In the 800m run three Yellow Jackets finished top five for the women with
Erica Dykstra coming in first with a time of 2:15.12,
Taylor Lundquist coming in second with a time of 2:18.11, and
Ruby Lindquist coming in fourth with a time of 2:21.27. For the men
Keith Osowski took first in the 1500m run with a time of 3:56.10 and
Tim Brown earned third crossing the finish line with a time of 4:03.27. Osowski earned second place in the men's 800m run with a time of 1:58.40 while
Tim Brown finished not far behind with a time of 1:59.23 earning fourth.

Throws
Kyla Sawvell found herself in first place three times this weekend while adding another provisional mark to her previous provisional mark in the shot put. Sawvell took first in the women's discus with a mark of 55.19m she also took first in the hammer throw with a mark of 55.19m which was a provisionally qualifying distance. Her final first place came in the shot put in which she earned a mark of 14.10m.
Savanna Perez earned third-place in the discus throw with a mark of 37.12m.
Maddi Fidler earned two fourth place finishes this weekend taking fourth in the hammer throw with a mark of 46.99m and javelin with a mark of 29.07m.
Sully Mack earned a second-place finish in the discus throw for the men with a mark of 43.23m.
Anthony Rosenstrauch earned a third-place finish in the discus with a mark of 41.89m. Mack also recorded a third-place finish in the javelin with a mark of 51.95m.

Jumps/Vault
Whitney Scott earned a provisional mark and first place in the pole vault this weekend with a vault of 3.72m.
Samantha Bates earned a first and second place finish this weekend in the jumping pits. Bates earned first in triple jump earning a mark of 10.08m and second in long jump with a mark of 5.07m. For the men
Nana Kwame Dwamena took second in the long jump with a mark of 6.80m while
Mason Morris and
Mason Sartain were not far behind coming in third and fourth, respectively. Morris earned a mark of 6.61m while Sartain earned a mark of 6.51m. In the pole vault
Ryan Foy earned fifth with a mark of 4.17m.
