DURANGO, Colo. - Black Hills State softball dropped its doubleheader to Fort Lewis on Saturday, falling 3-2 and 4-2.
The Yellow Jackets move to 3-28 on the season, both overall and in the RMAC.
Game One (L, 3-2)
Gianna Haley drove in the lone two runs for BHSU with a 2-run home run in the fifth.
Bell Leubken went 2-3 with a walk and a run scored while
Shayla Tuschen was perfect at the plate, going 3-3.
After Fort Lewis got off to an early 1-0 lead in the first, the Yellow Jackets took the lead in the fifth. Luebken drew a 2-out walk in the fifth before Haley came up next, driving her in with a 2-run home run.
Both teams scattered hits the rest of the way as BHSU took its 2-1 lead into the seventh. But the Skyhawks drove in a pair in the bottom half of the seventh to walk off the game and win 3-2.
Game Two (L, 4-2)
Tuschen continued her hot hitting in game two, going 2-3 with two RBI at the plate. In the circle she went all six innings, allowing three earned runs on seven hits.
Lizzy Johnson also went 2-3, while
Crystal Amaral,
Baileigh Hubbard and
McKayla Perry each tallied a base hit.
The Yellow Jackets didn't waste any time, going up 2-0 in the top of the first. A Perry single and Hubbard double put two runners in scoring position for Tuschen, who drove them both in with a single to center.
Fort Lewis followed with two runs of their own to tie the game at 2-2 in their half of the first. Tuschen would keep them hitless the next two innings before allowing another run in the fourth, going down 3-2.
The Skyhawks added one more run in the fifth, extending their lead to 4-2 and holding it the rest of the way for the win.
