Black Hills State softball fell 4-2 and 6-2 to Colorado School of Mines at Yellow Jacket Field on Saturday.
The Yellow Jackets drop to 3-34Â on the season, both overall and in the RMAC.
Game One (L, 4-2)
Scoreless after two innings of play, the Yellow Jackets struck first in the bottom of the third to go ahead 1-0 after
Darian Gottfried doubled and later scored on a
Bell Luebken RBI single.
Crystal Amaral held the Orediggers hitless through three innings of play until they got on the board in the fourth, putting up a three-spot and taking a 3-1 lead. CSM tacked one more on in the fifth to extend its lead to 4-1.
That score held until the bottom of the seventh when the Yellow Jackets threatened, getting another run back, but falling 4-2.
Game Two (L, 6-2)
In the top of the third, the Orediggers struck first when their leadoff batter took her first pitch out to right for a solo shot, giving them a 1-0 lead. BHSU answered in the bottom half of the inning when Gottfried led off with a first pitch solo home run of her own to tie the game at 1-1.
Following the home run,
Brittany Henricksen singled through the left side before
Baileigh Hubbard drove her in with a double down the left field line to give the Yellow Jackets a 2-1 lead through three.
That score held until the top of the fifth when Mines put up a 4-spot to retake the lead, 5-2. They would add one more in the top of the seventh and go on to win 6-2.
