MANKATO, Minn. | CHADRON, Neb. - Black Hills State track and field tallied eight total provisional marks in competition this weekend.
Five of those provisional marks came from athletes competing in the Mark Schuck Multi and Open in Mankato, Minn. as
Ruby Lindquist and
Keith Osowski each recorded two and
Xiomara Robinson recorded one.
The other three provisional marks came in Chadron, Neb. where the majority of the team was competing in the Don Holst Open.
Hannah Hendrick earned a provisional mark of 3.72m (12' 2.5") in the pole vault,
Kyla Sawvell earned a mark of 18.96m (62' 2.5") in the weight throw, and freshman Savanna Perez earned her first provisional mark in the weight throw with a mark of 17.26m (56' 7.5").
Mark Schuck Multi and Open
Distance
Keith Osowski was the lone Yellow Jacket to earn a first-place finish in Mankato taking first in the 3000m run en route to a provisionally qualifying time of 8:26.56. Osowski also earned a provisional mark in the mile where he came across the finish line in 4:13.64 and finished third. Both of those times were good enough to earn Osowski career personal bests and move him up the top ten list at BHSU.
Ruby Lindquist also earned herself two provisionally qualifying times this weekend one in the women's mile and one in the 3000m run. In Mankato Lindquist took fourth in the women's mile with a time of 5:01.05 and fifth in the women's 3000m run with a time of 10:00.13. Lindquist broke onto the Yellow Jacket top ten list with her time in the women's 3000m run and will now be ranked #3 all time at BHSU.
Xiomara Robinson earned a third-place finish in the women's 3000m run with a time of 9:55.09 which is a provisional mark for the Yellow Jackets. Robinson also ran in the women's mile placing fifth with a time of 5:01.88 just shy of a provisional mark.
Matthew Parker competed in the men's 3000m run and finished second with a time of 8:32.99 also just shy of a provisional mark.
Don Holst Open
Distance
While many of the Yellow Jacket distance athletes were in Mankato those that were in Chadron showed out on the track.
Taylor Lundquist earned a second-place finish in the women's 800m run with a time of 2:28.66. For the men,
Levi Smith placed third in the 800m run with a time of 2:01.08 with
Landon Nicholson not far behind finishing fifth with a time of 2:05.35.
Addison Red Fox was the lone Yellow Jacket running the mile and earned a fourth-place finish with a time of 4:38.48. In the 3000m run
Marcos Valerio earned a fifth-place finish finishing in 9:22.11.
Sprints/Hurdles
Breanne Fuller earned a pair of second place finishes for the Yellow Jackets in the 60m dash and 200m dash. Fuller finished the 60 with a time of 7.94 and the 200 with a time of 26.36.
Mikayla Tracy earned a fifth-place finish in the women's 200m dash with a time of 28.17. In the 60 hurdles
Sophie Curtis placed third with a time of 9.69. For the men
Mason Sartain place second in the 60m dash with a time of 7.14. This time earns Sartain a place on the Yellow Jacket top ten list, and he will now be ranked #6 all time tied with three other Yellow Jacket Alums.
Conor McGraw took second in the 200m dash with a time of 23.01 while
Shane McGraw came in fourth with a time of 23.81. Conor also placed fourth in the 60 hurdles with a time of 8.76.
Jumps/Vaults
Hannah Hendrick earned a first-place finish in the women's pole vault after recording a vault of 3.72m (12' 2.5").
Kendra McDonald recorded a pair of fifth-place finishes in the high jump and long jump. In high jump McDonald's mark was 1.46m (4' 9.5") and in long jump her mark was 4.54m (14' 10.75"). For the men
Ryan Foy earned first in the pole vault with a mark of 4.10m (13' 5.25").
Mario Guerrero placed fourth in the triple jump with a jump of 13.02m (42' 8.75").
Mason Sartain earned a fifth-place finish in the long jump after jumping 6.32m (20' 9").
Throws
Kyla Sawvell kept with her winning ways in the circle for the Yellow Jackets adding two more first place finishes this weekend. Sawvell's 13.48m (44' 2.75") throw in the shot put earned her first place and her 18.96m (62' 2.5") toss in the weight throw also earned her a first-place finish.
Savannah Perez earned her first provisional mark of her college career this weekend in the weight throw tossing a mark of 17.26m (56' 7.5") and earning second behind Sawvell. This throw moves Perez from #7 on the BHSU top ten list to #4.
Alexandra Cameron also hit the top five for the Yellow Jackets in the shot put with a mark of 11.95m (39' 2.5"). For the men
Sully Mack was the lone top five finisher after earned a third-place finish in the weight throw with a mark of 16.07m (54' 9.5").
Relays
Both the men and women's 4x400m relays earned third place finishes this weekend with the women's finishing in 4:23.46 and the men completing the race in 3:40.32. The women's race was run by
Taylor Lundquist,
Breanne Fuller,
Mikayla Tracy, and
Hannah Struble while the men's race was run by
Frank Becker,
Conor McGraw Landon Nicholson, and
Shane McGraw.
Up Next
The Yellow Jackets will be on the road again next weekend competing at the Bison Open in Fargo, N.D. Friday and Saturday. Competition begins at 11 a.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. on Saturday.
