Ladies Set for Home RMAC Debut Against Regis and UCCS

The Donald E. Young Center plays host to the debut of RMAC play for the men's and women's basketball teams on Friday and Saturday nights, with Black Hills State men's and women's doubleheaders this weekend. The Yellow Jacket ladies are set to take on the Regis Rangers at 5 p.m. on Friday, then the UCCS Mountain Lions on Saturday night at 4 p.m.

BHSU (5-1, 0-0 RMAC) will head into conference play this weekend on a four-game winning streak that started with a win at home against UMary on Nov. 16, as they defeated the Marauders 77-67 in a game that followed the only loss on the young season for the Yellow Jackets.

Most recently, BHSU traveled to Rapid City on Monday night for a non-conference duel with rival South Dakota Mines, defeating the Hardrockers 72-42. As a team, the Yellow Jackets shot 45.3 percent from the field and hit a 64.3 percent clip from long-range.

Danica Kocer continues to lead the BHSU ladies' squad in points on the season, sitting at 94 total points after a 16-point game against the Hardrockers. On Monday, the senior guard drained six of her ten shots from the field, including a perfect four-for-four from beyond the arc. She also recorded four rebounds and a steal in the 21 minutes she logged against South Dakota Mines.

As a defensive unit, BHSU nabbed 21 steals and forced 25 turnovers against the Hardrockers and as a team they rank fourth in the conference in OPP points per game allowed, holding opposing teams to an average of 56.8 so far this season.

The Yellow Jackets currently sit second in the RMAC standings and are only behind the 6-0 overall New Mexico Highlands.
